DO YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW STUTTER?

According to recent estimates, approximately 1% of the world’s population stutters.  That means that in America alone, over 3 million children and adults stutter.  Because stuttering is a disorder of communication, stuttering does not just affect the individual who stutters.  Therefore, treatment should not be directed solely at the child or adult that has difficulty talking.  Effective treatment for stuttering is ideally directed at both the person who stutters and their significant listeners.  Involving family, friends, teachers, and co-workers with treatment increases the success of treatment for this communication disorder.

Dr. Eldridge’s unique experiences as a person who stutters, the parent of two children who experienced periods of significant speech disfluency, and a highly trained clinician and researcher, coupled with the lessons he has learned from the families he as worked with, have shaped his approach to the diagnosis and treatment of stuttering for children and adults.

Woodstock Stuttering Specialist offers individualized assessment and treatment programs for children and adults who stutter.  Dr. Eldridge also offers consultation services for clients and/or speech pathologists.
